The latest news release from the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver confirm what we’ve known for months: detached homes are entering a buyers’ market and sales of townhomes and condos are slowing down as well.
Specific to the Sunshine Coast, the latest numbers show that between June 2017 and June 2018, sales of detached homes have fallen by 42 per cent. That’s a dramatic change in a relatively short amount of time.
I believe that the Sunshine Coast real estate market is cresting. Would-be sellers will list in July and August in the hopes of grabbing the attention of our many summertime visitors. In order to secure a buyer, these sellers will need to price aggressively to separate themselves from their like-minded competition.
Conversely, buyers can shop at a more relaxed pace but should be ready to act when they find the right home. No matter the market, a desirable, well-priced property will attract a disproportionate amount of attention.
