Neighbourhoods of Gibsons: Bay Area/Georgia View

Located in the southeast corner of Gibsons and lined with beaches and parks, the neighbourhood of Bay Area/Georgia View is an in-demand community on BC’s beautiful Sunshine Coast.

Often referred to as simply, “the Bay Area,” properties here are largely single-family homes, the most expensive of which are oceanfront houses with easy beach access and awesome views.

Maybe the best thing about the Bay Area is that you’re always walking distance to the beach! On the south side of the neighbourhood are Franklin Beach, Pebbles Beach, and Georgia Beach. These three beaches are favourite destinations for cooling off on hot summer days.

The Bay Area also provides easy access to Gibsons Harbour and Gibsons Marina. The marina boast 380 slips, can accommodate vessels up to 85 feet long, and is a popular launching point for boaters, kayakers, and paddlers. This is where you’ll find Breakwater Park and a small patch of sandy beach that looks up Shoal Channel.

Overlooking the harbour is the Bluff. The Bluff is a small neighbourhood inside a neighbourhood and, depending on which side of the Bluff a home is located, residents have spectacular views of Gibsons, Howe Sound, or Georgia Strait. Addresses in this small section of Gibsons are widely considered to be some of the most prestigious on the entire Sunshine Coast.

Arrowhead Park is the largest park in the Bay Area but a number of smaller parks are scattered throughout the neighbourhood. Labonte Park on Bay Road leads to the harbour, and smaller parks like Maplewood Lane Park and Headlands Pocket Park mean you’re never more than a few blocks from a green space.

This neighbourhood is very walkable but it also has transit service. Whether you’re on your way to Sechelt, the Langdale ferry terminal, or destinations in between, the Sunshine Coast transit system will get you there.
