Neighbourhoods of Gibsons: Woodcreek Park

Woodcreek Park is a residential neighbourhood just two minutes west of Gibsons off Highway 101 on BC’s Beautiful Sunshine Coast. Built mostly in the 80s and 90s, here you’ll find single family properties that range from bungalows to two-storey homes.

The north part of the neighbourhood is mostly flat, and provides level lots with little or no grade. As you head further south into the neighbourhood, a gentle slopping topography provides ocean views for many homes.

The neighbourhood has no through road to the south, but at the end of Laurel Street is a public walking path which connects Woodcreek Park with Ocean Beach Esplanade and Bonniebrook Beach. Thanks to the path, neighbourhood residents can walk to and from the beach and ocean within a matter of minutes.

Quiet and private, Woodcreek Park Neighbourhood is situated between two ravines and their creeks. Walker Creek is to the east and Smales Creek is to the west.

Also along the west border is Whispering Firs Park. This park has a mix of grassy play areas and manicured paths that wind through the trees. Whispering Firs Park also has a unique fitness circuit with some built-in exercise equipment. Near the entrance and parking lot area, there’s a sheltered picnic site with a barbeque cook-house.

Some area trivia that only true locals know is that the 73 homes north of McIntyre Road are part of the Woodcreek Wastewater Treatment Facility maintained by the SCRD. The properties south of McIntyre road each have their own septic systems.

Decidedly residential, Woodcreek Park doesn’t have schools or shops of its own. However, you’re a short 2-minute drive from all of the amenities in nearby Gibsons.

If you’re a family relocating to Woodcreek Park, kids can attend Gibsons Elementary, Elphinstone Secondary, or Sunshine Coast Alternative School. Cedar Grove Elementary School is another option.

Gibsons is also where you’ll find shopping, restaurants, and recreation facilities.

If easy access to Vancouver is important to you, BC Ferries’ Langdale terminal is an 8-minute drive from home. Transit also services the community with regular stops on Highway 101 at the entrance of Woodcreek Park.

If you want to raise a family in a quiet, friendly neighbourhood with easy access to parks and the beach, this could be the community you’re looking for. Close to Gibsons without being too close, Woodcreek Park is ready for you to make it your home.
