A 7-minute drive from nearby Gibsons brings you to Bonniebrook Beach and Ocean Beach Esplanades. Neighbourhood residents would like this community to be the Sunshine Coast’s best-kept secret but visitors are drawn to Bonniebrook Beach, especially during hot summer months.
This coastal residential area boasts one of the best stretches of beach on the Sunshine Coast. Bonniebrook Beach runs parallel to Ocean Beach Esplanade and is a favorite destination for swimming, paddle boarding, and whale watching.
When the ocean pulls back during low tide, the beach extends considerably and exposes sand bars. Every day of the year, you’ll find neighbourhood residents enjoying scenic walks along the beach and Ocean Beach Esplande.
When entering the community, you cross Chaster Creek. Chaster Creek fills with salmon each fall during the salmon run.
This is also where you’ll find Chaster House and Chaster Park. Chaster House is a beachside community hall that can be rented out for weddings and meetings. Chaster Park provides nearly 5 acres of beachfront park and pebbly beach on each side of Chaster Creek.
Homes along Ocean Beach Esplanade and its connecting streets range from legacy cabins to modern multi-million dollar homes. Properties are mostly south and west facing and many have expansive views of the Salish Sea’s Strait of Georgia. Vancouver Island can be seen along the horizon.
The community extends up Harry Road with many off-shooting streets and cul-de-sacs, all lined with fair to large sized lots and homes. As you progress up Harry Road, homes generally become bigger with generous yards and level lots. Residents living atop Harry Road will have incredible spanning ocean views each time they leave the community!
Families in this neighbourhood are just a 3-minute drive to Cedar Grove Elementary, and seven minutes to Gibsons’ elementary and secondary schools.
Shopping, restaurants, and the many services provided by the town of Gibsons are seven minutes away by car. The BC Ferries Langdale terminal is a short 14-minute drive from home.
While transit doesn’t service the community directly, it can be accessed nearby at King and Chaster Roads. Alternatively, residents can walk through Poplars Park at the top of Harry Road and use the transit stop along Highway 101.
